Michael Mosley is the man who popularised The Fast 800, whereby dieters are required to consume 800 quality calories per day for a minimum of two and a maximum of 12 weeks.

Michael explained: "It started with realising that the low fat diet wasn't really the way to go and that a diet with healthy fats and a decent amount of high quality protein is much healthier and more satisfying."
He added: "I then moved into eating legumes," he told The Carousel.
He admitted that proper weight loss is no picnic.
In his own weight loss journey in 2012, he realised that "you're going to have to do something a bit drastic, not simply making minor modifications to your diet," if you have a significant amount to lose.

For example, Michael now eats "much less white and brown rice and much more lentils".
This realisation led to Michael curating The Fast 800.
The "multi-dimensional approach" also incorporates "high intensity" exercise and "the role of breathing for managing anxiety and helping you sleep".
Overall, he said that it's "a multi-dimensional approach based initially around rapid weight loss but at its heart having the Mediterranean-style diet".

Fast 800 dieters are encouraged to start their day with eggs.
The Fast 800 website revealed: "Boiled, poached, scrambled or as an omelette - they'll keep you feeling fuller for longer compared to cereal or toast."
This versatile food is known to be fabulous for weight loss.
Full-fat yoghurt is also a great healthy snack and can be paired with berries and nuts or a dash of cinnamon to add flavour.
Some treats, such as red wine and dark chocolate, are permitted in moderation (Image: Getty)
Michael also recommended "high-quality proteins" such as "oily fish, prawns, chicken, turkey, beef and, of course, eggs".
Processed meats should be eaten sparingly.
That means ditch the bacon sandwich in the morning in favour of sardines or sliced turkey.
The diet allows people to eat "healthy fats", such as avocados, and encourages you to add a splash of extra virgin olive oil to meals to improve the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.

One piece of good news for those following this diet is that treats are absolutely allowed.
In fact, a compound found in red wine, cocoa and berries actually enhances the benefits of a Mediterranean diet.
Be "mindful", but feel free to pour a glass of red wine or break off a square of dark chocolate to complement your meals.
Those who wish to try out Michael Mosley's Fast 800 can purchase one of his several books on the diet.
These include The Fast 800, The Fast 800 Recipe Book and The Fast 800 Easy.
